Australia is (or was!) the country it is because of immigration. The few the government stop coming in are the ones that need to be let in. What the government should be doing is helping these people and not leaving them to the mercy(?) of people smugglers. Many more come into Australia by other means, but stopping these is not as easy or as media worthy as 'stopping the boats'.
