No. I won't boycott Coles for putting things in plastic.

However, I will buy loose tomatoes, potatoes etc instead of those in plastic.

All supermarkets do it... but we need to see all of them make a commitment to phase out plastic and unnecessary packaging within a defined period of time e.g. like the disposable plastic carry bags. They should work together on this issue and not treat it as some form of competitive market capturing exercise.

I cannot count the number of times that I wrote to the BIG supermarkets informing them that there was a better way. If a SMALL family Deli. could issue bio degradable bags why not them? It was all a matter of profits. The BIG supermarkets just want you to buy the thick bags at a profit. I am still confused as to what is a single use plastic bag that was banned, in my house there never was such an item they all found...

I buy Australian products when I can, I think the plastic bag issue will not be solved until manufactures of products create an alternative, but the could start by providing paper bags for items like fruits and wax paper to wrap your deli items in. The most I can do now is recycle the best I can.

No, when I can go to any shop and buy my bread in a plastic bag, milk in a plastic container, salad in a plastic bowl, plastic freezer bags in plastic, plastic brooms, mops and dustpans, plastic rubbish bins, nearly every product from cleaners to storage containers in some sort of plastic and to only target Coles, why not any other shop

"M" & "Pussy Cat" I agree there are more important things to address. All supermarkets - be they Aldi, Coles, Foodland-IGA, Woolworths etc. have, collectively, literally millions of hectares of roofs over their stores so why haven't they installed millions of Solar Panels? They would power their stores and over time their energy would cost them nothing and they could also add energy to ...

Maybe it would be a Great idea to actually get your FACTS Right First. Yes, Coles have introduced what look like Plastic Bags - not sure at which Coles' stores you can actually buy a single Hot Cross Bun - Those bags are NOT made from a Petroleum-based PVC Plastic. They are, in FACT made out of a 100% Safe, 100% Biodegradable, 100% Compostable material: BAMBOO. - The Giant Sized member of the Grass family..
