By decriminalising illicit drugs such as heroin, and having the government set the price, do you believe that drug related criminal activity would drop? If you’re answer is NO, may I ask why?

I am curious on what people think and why and if it’s an educated and informed response or a response determined by another means

These drugs don't help anyone. Marijuana is different it helps with lots of different health problems.

Who is going to pay for the drugs even when decriminalized. I see the toothless grey stick people who are on the methadone program everyday. They are parasites, no jobs and who would employ them? All with a bunch of kids with unfortunate upbringings running around the street while " the who gives a rat" parent/s plonk their backside down in the main street public areas waiting for their takeaway hit. And ...

I think pot should be legal not just in the ACT. Pot has a huge black market, people are selling pot to kids 12, 13 years of age. If legalized the government would make a fortune on tax and control over who can use it.

Whether growing up or grown up, like myself and so many others, how many times have we been drawn to or been involved in anything we’ve been told ‘NO’ to or ‘NOT ALLOWED’.?
Once permissible, the want to do seems to lose the appeal. Teens, at times turn to illicit drugs as an act of rebellion, which in turn may lead to drug related crimes. In my opinion, legalisation would end suc...

This is a god damned no brainer, prohibition does not work and never has. The war on drugs has simply regulated the price and kept it high, if we spent the exorbitant cost of this insanity on treatment and rehab we would be so much better off. The US spends $51B a year on this craziness. Please read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chasing_the_Scream to understand why the war on drugs is a joke

It would increase the supply and demand.
If the government becomes involved, it would be a green flag saying the use of illicit drugs is ok to do.

The government cannot get it right with the drugs it already controls. While I accept the fact that cigarettes are not are not healthy for me and that they will kill me, at least I will not kill other people driving home after having a few too many smokes or come home and beat up my wife and kids because I was down the pub all night smoking. I am only damaging myself and the health costs of that are the same as if...
