Depends on the weather in Australia. If you are in a/c then yes to hot meal. if outside, then cold.

Even though I love both options, you can have the cold option anytime (maybe New Year), however I cannot wait for all the Ham and puds and cake and bon bons etc., its just the best way to end the year.

In the sub tropical region a traditional hot lunch is not particularly enjoyable. Besides who really wants to spend the necessary time in preparation and cooking. Alternatives allow all members of the family equal participation.
