Do you agree with members of the Plymouth Brethren (Exclusive Brethren Cult) being exempt from voting, even though voting is complusory for ALL Australians?

The Plymouth Brethren (Exclusive Brethren Cult) donate large sum of money to the Liberal Party however they do not allow their 15,000 members to vote & are somehow exempt. Also the Plymouth Brethren (Exclusive Brethren Cult) don't pay any tax in Australia. The Plymouth Brethren do not meet any of the reasons listed for 'Valid and sufficient reason for failure to vote'.

No. Get them to vote like most of us have to.

I don't care if they don't vote. But would like them to pay tax and contribute - like the rest of us.

Don't know too much about this mob, but just look around, the world is full of "alternate" groups and the only way they manage to exist is when weak minded followers flock to their doors.
Just look at the Church of Scientology, now if ever there was a cult doing more harm that good, then this is it and they still receive all the perks a tax free lifestyle allows !!!!

There is, I understand, a religious exemption that some are allowed to exercise. It is commonly exercised by Jehovah's Witness to not vote. Did not know this group also exercised it to not vote.

The Jehovah's Witness religion do not get involved in any politics at all unlike this cult who donate money to the Liberal Party and had regular meetings with John Howard when he was the Prime Minister. Was only explaining my understanding re the voting. Not in any other way comparing the two. I have a number of friends who are Witness's, but I don't know any Brethren.
