Thanks for having this option available. It's not that I won't, I can't due to medication I'm on.

I have donated about 30 pints of blood, but due to my health I can't now. I started donating after my mother was on dialysis and needed a top up one time. Just my way of thanking those that helped my mum.

I never have, donated or received a transfusion. I take off my hat to all the wonderful people who do. You save lives every day and are one form of heros that are under recognised. I don't because the health professionals do not deserve to have to handle the situation of a needle woose, with extremely narrow veins.

I have in the past but got lazy I guess. I recently had to have 3 units of blood following surgical complications. Once I have recovered fully I'll be starting again if they will take me.

I asked my specialist today and if anyone gets a transfusion they cannot donate blood for 12 months. Some medical reason apparently.
