Do you feel compelled to correct spelling and/or grammar on social media?

By PurpleKiwi . Created on 14 Jan, 2020
Lately, I have noticed a lot of posts on FB, Instagram, Twitter and some others (including MyView) where people have posted incorrect spelling, grammar or relying on autocorrect to choose the word. I find it difficult to ignore. How can they not edit what they wrote? Am I alone on this?

Yes, It bothers me.

Yes, It bothers me.

No, it doesn’t bother me.

No, it doesn’t bother me.

I have to do something... it’s almost a compulsion, I’m armed with the red pen of death.

I want to correct it, I start to post something, but I change my mind and move on to the next thing.

If this is something you are truly concerned about, you have a very charmed life. Some people are worried where their next meal is coming from and you are concerned about how strangers spell words on the internet. Seriously??

I suck at spelling, I treat social media like future employers are inspecting it. Thus, I try and make it mistake free.

Just to complete the circle of inadequacies in our education system.

It bothers me a little bit.
However, I've noticed that most of the people on my social media who aren't good with spelling/grammar are the ones I went to school with. Since the schools I went to were some of the worst in the state, and are in low-income areas, I try not to judge my all classmates too harshly. ...

My pet peeve is receiving long winded emails that just run on and on with no sentence structure. It is confusing to read.

I think the ability to send emails from mobile phones has had a negative effect on grammar.
