We usually cook enough that no cooking is required for 4 days after. Always have always will I suppose. We have family and friends coming and going all day. We love it that way. Grazing and a few drinks hits the spot.

We have a more casual affair when it comes to Christmas. I will always do some christmas baking, things like gingerbread, xmas mince pies, shortbread, a different dessert every year. We do not buy too much food, as we will be eating it for days, so we buy what we really like and I will sometimes make something hot like roast chicken or turkey. Agree with Lil. Lots of salads, ham, chicken ect ect. But sit down to a "formal" meal with crackers ect!

I do both I cook lots of different types of casual food but everyone will sit down at the table that has been traditionally set with the Xmas cracker at each place setting with knives, forks, spoons, plates, glassware, cloth napkins, ect ect
