Do you know how to swim?

By Olivia . Created on 02 Jul, 2021
I thought it might be interesting to know how many people know how to swim. Today the 2/7/21 my mother would have turned 83, however she passed away in 2006 without ever learning to swim due to an incident at 6 years of age during school swimming lessons where another child pushed her in the deep end & she needed rescuing from drowning which sadly forever stopped her from learning to swim due to fear. My father could swim and my mother took myself and my 4 siblings to swimming lessons which I was grateful for as we sailed boats on dams as young children & visited the Gold Coast once or twice a year.

I remember going to swim squad on the weekends with my late father when I was young. So I sent my children to the same place to learn to swim. It paid off for all of us as we proudly represented our school at swimming carnivals.

I can dog paddle like a champion! Enough to save my life. As a safeguard, I have purposefully developed an effective built-in floatation system to ensure I do not sink if I fall in water, similar to that which whales use.
