Usually I get bulked billed, then one day I received an account by mail, upon querying it I was told I had to pay, because the doctor had forgotten to write "Bulk Bill" on her computer??? I do not intend to pay, I believe it only takes two little words from the Doctor and the staff to query it NOT me. Another time I had an MRI it was found I had medical situation ,so the actual Hospital Specialists who re...

That’s terrible I don’t think seniors should have to pay for any medical assistance. My GP charges me $80 a visit and my Nuerologist charges $350 per visit. I have Multiple Sclerosis and have recently started infusions, free on public system or $450 private excess every 6 months plus brain and spine MRI private $1700 or public free. Let’s say after I found this out, I’ve moved to the public system but have kept my...

Since working in administration and management of a medical centre, I actively seek out a doctor I have to pay to see. Medicare pays bulk-billing doctors practically nothing. Meanwhile, the doctor has paid with more than 10 years of intense study, and ends up with a HECS/HELP debt of $80,000+. My sister is a doctor and I've seen it all. The study was so intense, one of her classmates committed suicide. Doctors ...

I pay to see mine also and don’t think I’d have it any other way. He’s fabulous, Australian and doesn’t just write scripts for everything.

Because the government pays doctors next to nothing! $37.60 for a 20 min consult has to cover doctor's wages, receptionist's wages, administration staff wages, building overheads (rent, electricity, etc)... Need I go on? Meanwhile, your doctor has a HECS/HELP debt of $80,000+ to pay off, not to mention having given more than 10 years of intense study to get to be your doctor. And your doctor has to pay tax...

My current GP bulk bills but I have been to a GP’s surgery just for scripts and it just feels very weird to pay if that’s all you require. Before changing GP’s (after seeing the same one for 25 years and always bulked billed) I never realised what we had was so good and that the prices some GP’s charge!!!!

It’s a shame they can’t do 5minute consoles for free, just to wore scripts.
