Normalise swear words and explain that they are not appropriate to be used in a public place or when speaking to anyone politely

Lead by example. And always explain the reasons why they sometimes hear their family or friends swear. Always enforcing the ugly side of being the victim of such an attack towards someone’s dignity.

Leading by example is OK but lets face it, anyone with kids/teens know that they listen to their peers and everything you taught them is irrelevant most of the time although hopefully some of it filters into their brains. WHat is the reason? Every society and age has "acceptable" language and behaviour. We are undergoing change at a dramatic rate. If you are offended by a word it is YOUR problem. I am offended by those who profess belief in "fairy tales" of mysogynistic, chauvenistic male dominated "religions" and I have to live with it. Having bought up a family myself, I feel strongly that if they do not hear swearing at home, it must make them think twice about doing it themselves, my Husband said "people who swear have no self control".
Though watching the latest Batchelor series, the girls who use disgusting language, just seem to think its normal, makes them look so cheap...

I agree, it's not always as simple as 'don't swear yourself and they won't either'. We have found first hand that is bollocks!!
