I think that current Sentencing is an appropriate reflection of the crime committed.

The Sentences being handed down in many cases are far too soft.

Sit in you local Magistrates Court and see it for yourself, I think that some offences such as aggravated burglary should receive a custodial sentence each and every time the accused is convicted.

For one, the "juvenile" age should be dropped down from18 to 12.. There are younger and younger kids out there committing serious offences and getting away with it.. You can get your license at 17, be n idiot on the road, kill or critically injure someone and go to Children;s Court simply because under 18.. Judges and Magistrates need to toughen up and stop releasing so many on bail.

I think the system is inequitable, and tend to agree with Xolan's comment. We see some go free for serious crimes, and battlers punished heavily. It seems that the courts favour the person with the best lawyer.

They are too soft when they need to be harsher and too harsh when they need to show leniency.
