As a animal lover I definitely agree in no animal testing, it's torture if we did the same to a human

I would have thought that DNA technology and human STEM cells have advanced enough that new medicines could be analyzed safely. I think why animals like rats and rabbits are used is due to their short reproductive cycle for testing to show geneology effects.

The only alternative to animal testing is testing on ourselves and that's not going to happen unless the test has been previously conducted on the appropriate animal for that test. At the same time there must be a clear and necessary benefit from using animals for testing. It must not be at the whim of an individual researcher but the decision of a panel of peers in the field under research.
