Should politicians get paid the same amount as people on welfare?

By Sarah . Created on 24 Jun, 2021
Politicians are always getting pay rises, hard working Australian don’t get a pay rise and people on welfare don’t get a pay rise. Prices are increasing on food, electricity, water, fuel and clothing to just name a few. Isn’t it time the politicians stop getting paid so well for doing nothing!

Most of them don't put in good days work, they complain about money and they don't give the average worker pay rises or bonus

I voted no, because I wouldn't wish that amount of income on anyone. But it would be a great idea for each politician to live on a wage equivalent to job seekers payment for the first 6 months of their career. Including meeting the requirements. See how much they get out of th...

Politicians get a chuckle when they hear of someone who would extend to them such a benevolent approach as yours. They are well aware of the misery of people at the bottom of the economic septic pit, and get a perverse pleasure from the privations that they inflict on many other citizens. It feeds their monstrous egos to know that they have that power, and that enough of the population is willingly fooled by the war...

Before I got told I had a stroke and a brain tumour I worked 14hrs a day 5-6 days a week. Because of this stupid shit I had no choice but to stop working because of tonic clinic seizures. My rent per month 1086.50 for my share I still have to pay for my li...

You get what you pay for. So that would not be an inteligent idea at all. Politicians may not give value for money, but they don't get paid anywhere near as much as the CEO's of some big businesses, who give even less value for money.

They should experience having a pension of $980 per fortnight, budgeting $60 for Telephone, $60 for Electric, $30 for Gas, $60 for Car Insurance, and finally $740 for rent GRAND TOTAL of $950, leaving me $30 to buy food for a fortnight. It's to raise the Pension

Time these 'so called Pollies" learn to stand on their own two feet, instead of bludging off the public as they do.! These huge pensions pollies get needs to be stopped, totally unfair when pensioners are lucky to receive $310.00 a week, makes me mad, and POLLIES DON'T DESERVE IT!

Why should they "learn to stand on their own two feet" when WE have taught them that they can get away with ANY crooked, self-serving abuse of the power that we, by our votes, give to them. Why should they even bother to do anything more than pay lip service to the torrents of illusory promises and statements of "policy" which can be ignored as soon as they have power. It is all about marketing, and the people of th...
