Should the australian army help out in a bush fire emergency

If there is a bush fire out of controll, threatening towns, houses lives etc, should the goverment forces step in and give aid??

I was an army cadet during the Ash Wednesday bushfires. We were called in along with A-res and Regulars to help fight the fires, provide emergency assistance and support other fire fighters. This is commonplace for all military personnel. Just because we don't advertise it doesn't mean we aren't helping.

The army have the skills and training and in fact this is good training in real life for them and their equipment - help relieve the burden in the state of emergency
