That genie escaped the bottle a long time ago. Imposing an age requirement now would only encourage illegal drinking. However, it would not be a bad idea to encourage more responsible behaviour. Increasing the minimum age would not alter drinking habits in the population in general. Such a policy would be akin to reviving the six o'clock swill that still existed in Victoria in the late 1960s.

If teenagers have a good upbringing they should be responsible re drinking and driving by 18 years of age. There is plenty of promotion about this subject.

If alcohol was invented/discovered today it would be immediately outlawed. It is a literal poison. The alleged health benefits are completely overblown, are FAR outweighed by the health negatives and are achieved in much higher levels with other things such as diet, exercise, sleep, etc. Not to mention it's very expensive, uses a ton of resources to make and contributes to the destruction of lives and families acros...
