What age did you marry ?

By Lea . Created on 05 Sep, 2020
Have views on marriage changed these days? Finding more and more people are waiting till their 30s to tie the knot. I myself married at 30 and still married 8 years later. I’ve found that not many of my friends are married and have kids with their partners or previous partners. Sadly a lot who have gotten married have divorced after a few years.

Marriage is no different from a committed relationship. The only exceptions are people who attach other commitments to marriage (e.g. they will only buy a house together once married, and this purchase signifies their marriage to them - they conflate marriage with these other actions when in reality it's nothing to do with it).

Why have or pay for a contract when love was always meant to be free and unbiased.

I was in twenties in 70s and only married because I was pressured. Not allowed to "live in sin". What rubbish!! Marriage is a contract and is really only needed if you are going to have children and share property etc. BTW we have been together for over 50 years.

While I chose to marry. I agree totally that it is the committment not the piece of paper that makes a relationship. As you have proven by your lasting relationship.

Married at 26, still married 33 years later. Too many are in love with the idea of being in love or are in lust. You'll know when you're in love, and then as with everything, the marriage is a work in progress.
