Who believes Mother's Day has become a sales pitch instead of the real meaning.

By Helen . Created on 10 May, 2019
I believe Mother's Day has become a real sales pitch that makes people feel guilty if they don't buy an expensive gift that they can't really afford when all most mothers really want is a phone call or a visit from their children. Yes! Many years ago my mum gave life to five children and and thankfully she and they are all still alive and the five of us still live close to her and even though she is 97 and we are all over 60 she still sees us regularly. She doesn't need anything except a visit from her children. Her mother raised 6 children and she is the only one left but she still talks about her childhood memories when the only gifts anyone could give is what they made so let's think about what Mother's Day really is before we run up debt on our credit cards.

No matter how commercially it is now, there is still that personal way to say a big thanks mum, so I think it still has a huge meaning in everyone from 5 to 95, it means so much to mum too, getting some recognition of her hard work.

Thanks M , you have been a busy little beaver. for your message. I do agree and when mine was alive we did spoil her. I only have 1 grandchild so thank goodness there is no hardship for us at Christmas unlike those with more. How wonderful it is to hear such positive comments about one's mother. Take care. B.
