Who thinks firework displays are getting way too big? Shouldn't the money be spent on the homeless, the hungry and the farmers in the drought?

Total & utter waste of tax payers money that should be saving lives, ending homelessness,helping the elderly,people with disabilities,mental illness,youth suicide & drug & alcohol addiction.

I like fireworks but I do agree with the other comments here too. It a get better and bigger each year. The other asspect here is the burden on the environment. When we do do it and the cost to Mother Nature not only our pockets but also the things that are affected as a result of it. Our animals and wild animals that can here the noise at probably ten or 100 times the volume and are frightened. I know we all human ...

It's become a competition between states, the bigger, the longer, the better. Little kids haven't got the attention span to watch long, drawn out exhibits of fireworks so they're pointless from that regard. Adults enjoy fireworks, I know but being on for so long is such a dreadful waste of money. Reduce the cost of fireworks to a fraction of what they are and put it towards charities or medical research.

Bah! Humbug! NO ... we should not do away with the wonderful fireworks display each year. So many folk come into the city from the suburbs & regional areas to watch and enjoy the celebrations. Thousands of visitors to our cities do wonders for the economy and its a win/win situation. Fireworks are traditional and better that we see them on this scale than having idiots planning on a small scale in parks and back...
